My name is Bartosz Kowalak. I am a legal counsel and partner at Kowalak Jędrzejewska Konrady Law Firm in Poznań.

From the very first day of my professional practice, I have been handling compensation cases. Traffic accidents, medical malpractice, property damage – in short: all situations where someone suffers harm through someone else’s fault and is entitled to compensation.

I call this compensation law. It comes down to four questions: who, for what, to whom, and how much should be paid when someone is at fault?

Why a blog?

This area of law gives me genuine professional satisfaction. I see concrete results of my work – a client who, after an accident, didn’t know whether they had any claims at all, leaves with a sense that the system actually works.

But the courtroom is one thing. I wanted to try something more – to share knowledge more broadly than just with clients sitting across from me in the office. Hence this blog.

What to expect here?

I will write about:

• interesting facts from compensation law (and there are plenty of them),
• practical tips for victims,
• my reflections after years of working in this field,
• specific cases that can help understand how compensation works in practice.

Without legal jargon where it’s not needed. With concrete answers where possible.
